HAPPY HOLIDAYS - GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS

During this holiday season, I felt compelled to watch "Scrooge, A Christmast Carol" written by Charles Dickens.  In fact, I watched over 3 different versions of this holiday Christmas classic.
In the opening lines of the movie, Scrooge, the main character, is visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley.  Marley appears grieved and weighed down by huge, massive chains forged to heavy metal blocks.  "These were forged when I was on earth not attending to the business of mankind",  Marley laments as he warns Scrooge of his impending plight.

As I watched the movie several times,  the words and philosophy of Master Sha rang through my soul, heart, mind and body.  The humongous chains and metal blocks were the negative karma or negative blockages that Jacob Marley created throughtout his life on the earth. How or why were they created?  Marley weeps as he cries out that he had discounted and ignored the plight of humanity and had never gone outside the realms of his business affairs. Now he is weighed down by the enormous weight of the heavy blockages that he is compelled to carry with him continuously wherever he goes.

To me, the whole movie is about the course of karma that Scrooge had created and the process of redemption and transformation that he undergoes in his soul, heart, mind and body.

It sharply brought home that before the Year's End, we might watch this movie and deeply reflect what chains we have been forging this year and in the past years.  Although you might not believe in karma, at least, reflect and note what kinds of thoughts, actions, and speech you have engaged in that have positively or negatively affected those around you.  Have they been positive?  Have they been negative?   Take note, write them now and seriously reflect on them.

In preparation for your New Year's Resolutions, it is highly recommended that as you meditate over your record of positive and negative thoughts, actions and speech, you make a deeply felt committment of the heart that you will make transformations to yourself in all aspects of your life hat will deeply impact others - humanity- to make others happier and healthier.

In other words, I am recommending that you need to make a strong vow to make the plight of others better in any way that you can.  This is the ritual we ought to  make before preparations for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  This should be, however, part of our daily ritual  - not only at Year's End.

This need for deep reflection and deep committment to transform ourselves for the betterment of humanity will not allow any negative chains of bondage [karma] to be forged while we live on Earth.  This reflection and committment will bring much inner peace to our soul, heart, mind and body.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016 to one and to all!
